ANGELINA
“Without trust I can’t live”
Angelina grew up under occupation, in a world where childhood gave way early to responsibility and fear. Surrounded by loss and separation, she learned to navigate life with a guarded distance, building walls to protect herself from further hurt. Within this, art became a vital space, a way to give form to her thoughts, her fears, and her sense of self. It offers her not only expression, but direction. At the same time, she holds onto a fragile understanding of trust, something both necessary and difficult after her experience.
This portrait was made in co-production with the Volya Foundation, caring for children experiencing the war in Ukraine. https://www.ukrainevolya.org/
