FIRAS

“Notebooks like People to me”

This portrait follows Firas, a boy from Damascus now living alone in Turkey. His family sent him on a dangerous journey he never wanted to take. In Damascus he worked in a good hair salon and wrote constantly, filling his room with pages that helped him make sense of life. Now he works in a kebab shop and carries none of those notebooks with him. The film reflects on what he left behind and how writing remains his way of staying grounded.

This episode was made in co-production with FRANCE TELEVISION.
